When an account needs reconnecting

Platform tokens expire. What we check, what we email, and how to fix it in one click.

Social platforms hand out permission to post for a limited time. LinkedIn's lasts about two months; others vary. When one runs out, the agent cannot publish to that account until you sign in again — a thirty-second job we tell you about the moment it is needed.

What we check

Every few hours we ask the platform whether each connected account is still authorised. On the Accounts page and on the agent's page, each account carries a chip: Healthy, Reconnect needed, or Not checked (brand new, first check pending).

What we email

  • "Reconnect needed" — sent once, when an account changes from healthy to not. One email even if several accounts fail at the same time; no reminders every four hours. The button in it opens the platform's sign-in page and returns you to your accounts when done.
  • The platform's own notice — some platforms tell our publishing partner directly that a token is about to expire. We forward that as "Reconnect now (30 seconds)" so you can do it before a post is missed.

For an agency client's account the email goes to the client's assigned account manager, or the agency owner if none — never to the client directly. Reconnecting is something only the client can do, so the account manager sends them a connect link from the client's page.

What happens to posts meanwhile

  • A post that comes due while the account is out is attempted, retried three times over 45 minutes, and then marked Failed to post, with the reason shown. It stays in your history; once the account is back, the next scheduled slot goes ahead as normal.
  • If an agent posts to several accounts, the healthy ones still publish. Each account is independent.
  • The agent itself keeps running; it only pauses if it is left with no account at all (for example after a disconnect).

Reconnecting

Click Reconnect next to the account, or the button in the email. It is the same sign-in you did the first time; the platform issues a fresh token and the chip returns to Healthy on the next check. Nothing else changes — the agent, its schedule and its outbox are exactly as you left them.

Why we can't just do it for you: the whole point of the platform's sign-in page is that only you can grant access. We never hold your password, so we cannot renew the permission on your behalf. See Connecting your accounts.
