PostAgent vs Taplio: a suite you operate, or a ghostwriter that runs
This is not a close call in either direction, because the two tools are for different people. Taplio is a cockpit. PostAgent is a ghostwriter. Here is how to tell which one you are shopping for.

The one-paragraph version
Taplio gives a LinkedIn creator everything in one place: AI drafting from a library of millions of posts, scheduling, a curated engagement feed, auto-replies, a lead database, automated DMs and connection requests, analytics, team roles, an API. You run it daily. PostAgent does one job: it learns how you think from everything you have written, writes posts from that, runs every post through a separate claims check, holds anything it cannot vouch for, and publishes on your schedule, with a week-ahead email so you can look if you want to. You set it up once. If you want to spend time on LinkedIn and grow a creator audience, Taplio. If you want a consistent, correct professional presence and no LinkedIn time, PostAgent.
Prices, verified September 30, 2026
Monthly billing from each pricing page on that date.
| Taplio | PostAgent | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | $39/mo Starter: scheduling and analytics, no AI credits | $79/mo Professional: everything |
| AI writing | $69/mo Growth: 250 AI credits + 500 comment credits per month | Included, no credit system |
| Unlimited AI | $69/mo Growth continues in an unlimited lower-quality mode once the 250 credits are spent; $199/mo Pro removes the limit | $79/mo |
| Annual | Starter $32, Growth $49, Pro $149 per month | Monthly only at present |
| Trial | 7 days, full Pro access, no card to start per Taplio's homepage, 30-day refund per terms | 7 days, no card |
| Agencies | Multi-seat discount, price on request | $299/mo incl. 3 clients, $49 per additional client |
The comparison most people care about is Taplio Pro at $199 versus PostAgent at $79, because that is the tier at which Taplio's AI is unconstrained. At the $69 Growth tier, 250 credits a month is enough for a careful user and not a heavy one; Taplio's help center says that when those run out, generation continues in a lower-quality unlimited mode on the same plan, and Pro at $199 removes the limit.
What each one is built from
Taplio's writer draws on what it describes as "5M+ Inspiration & viral posts" and AI "trained on 3 million+ posts". You pick an idea or a post you like, it produces a draft in that shape, you edit and schedule. It is fast and it produces posts that look like LinkedIn. The weakness is the same as the strength: the material is other people's posts, so the specifics in a draft are either yours (if you typed them in) or generic.
PostAgent's writer draws on a brief built from your material: your LinkedIn profile, your past posts, documents and folders you connect, a book or guide if you have one, and an interview that asks about your actual work ("what did a client get wrong last month?"). Every grounded detail in a post is one you gave it. That is slower to set up, because it starts with an interview about your real work, and it is the reason the posts can be specific without a person checking each one.
What checks the post
This is the largest difference and the one Taplio's pages do not address. Taplio's terms say that if you use its AI to produce content, "You are responsible for using this Content". That is the industry norm, and Taplio is a tool you operate, so it is a fair position.
PostAgent's check is a separate stage after writing: a reader framed as a sceptical peer in your field, with web search, your material and the exact sources the writer saw, reads every claim; a second read with an adversarial framing and a second opinion from a different vendor's model look for what the first missed; a verifier adjudicates each candidate against the source; confirmed errors are repaired with the smallest edit; the result is read again. A post the check cannot clear is held, never published, and you see why. It reduces errors rather than eliminating them. We have not found another tool in this category that does a fraction of this.
How each connects to LinkedIn
Taplio's in-LinkedIn features (stats, saving posts, smart replies from the feed) run through a Chrome extension, and its outreach features act inside LinkedIn on your behalf. Taplio's FAQ says it is safe because it "behaves exactly like a real LinkedIn user would"; its terms say that if using Taplio breaches LinkedIn's terms, the consequences for your account are yours. We have no evidence about enforcement against Taplio and will not repeat claims from competitor blogs.
PostAgent publishes through LinkedIn's official API with your OAuth consent via a posting partner. No extension, no cookies, no password, no actions in your name other than publishing the post you were told about. In 2026 one long-running extension-based LinkedIn tool, Shield, closed under platform pressure, so the official-API arrangement is the safer bet for a professional profile for a concrete reason rather than a theoretical one.
What Taplio does that PostAgent does not
Be clear-eyed about this list; for some buyers it decides the matter.
- Engagement: curated feeds, AI smart replies, auto-like, auto-reply to comments on your posts.
- Outreach: lead database, auto-DMs, bulk DMs, auto and bulk connection requests (Pro).
- Analytics with a benchmark dataset and a monthly stats email.
- Carousel generation inside the editor, idea finder, repurposing.
- API, Zapier, an MCP connector to run Taplio from an AI assistant.
- A full-access trial with a refund window.
If you will use three of those, Taplio is the right purchase and the $199 is justified.
What PostAgent does that Taplio does not
- Writes from a brief built from your own material and an interview, not a library of other people's posts.
- Checks every claim in every post before it is queued, and holds posts it cannot clear.
- Publishes on your schedule without a per-post approval step, with a week-ahead email listing what is coming and a window to pull a post.
- Keeps asking: a short question by email about something specific in your work, weekly by default, monthly or off if you prefer. You can answer, skip or stop, so the brief stays current and the posts stay specific.
- Strips the AI tells (the cadences and openers readers have learned to spot) as a separate pass.
- Emails you at most once per account per day if posts cannot publish, not once per post, and when you reconnect, the posts that failed because that account was disconnected in the previous 14 days go back to the front of the queue.
- Agency plan with white-label review emails and a client link that needs no login.
Who should pick which
Pick Taplio if you are building a creator audience, you enjoy the daily loop of posting and engaging, you want outreach automation in the same tool, and you accept responsibility for what the AI writes. Budget $199 a month for the version without credit caps.
Pick PostAgent if you are a professional whose hourly rate makes LinkedIn time irrational, you want a consistent presence that is specific to you and correct, you do not want to run DMs or engagement pods in your name, and you would rather read one email a week than approve three posts. $79 a month.
Pick neither if you like writing and already post weekly; a $6 to $20 scheduler will do.
Questions people ask
Can I use both?
Yes, and some people will: PostAgent for the writing, checking and publishing, and Taplio Growth at $69 for its engagement feed and comment features (Starter at $39 is scheduling and analytics only). Make sure only one of them is publishing to avoid duplicates.
Which produces better posts?
Taplio's drafts are polished and shaped like posts that have done well on LinkedIn. PostAgent's are built from your material, so they contain things only you would say, and they have been checked. "Better" depends on whether you want reach-shaped posts to edit or specific posts that ship. We think the second is what a professional's audience responds to, and we say that as an interested party.
Does PostAgent have a credit system?
No. One plan, one price, every post written and checked. A post takes a few minutes because the check runs, and the number of posts is set by the schedule you choose.
Is Taplio's 7-day trial really free?
Taplio's homepage says no card is needed to start; its FAQ says you pick a plan to start the trial and move onto it afterwards, with a refund available within 30 days of payment per its terms. Several recent public reviews describe renewal surprises; set a reminder. PostAgent's trial takes no card.
Where this comes from. PostAgent is a LinkedIn ghostwriter that read everything you ever wrote: it learns your voice from your own material, and a separate check reads every claim in every post against that material and the public record before anything publishes. That is the lens these pages are written with, and it is why every competitor price here is read on the vendor's own site and dated. How it works · Pricing
