The look-ahead email

A short email before posts go out, so nothing is ever a surprise.

The look-ahead is a short email, once a week, showing you the posts that will go out over the coming days — in order, with their dates and images — before any of them publishes. Its last line is the whole idea: "Do nothing and these publish automatically, on schedule."

What it does

At the time you choose (Sunday at 5:00 PM by default), the agent looks at the week ahead, counts the scheduled slots, and writes a post for each one into the outbox. Then it emails you the list. Each post in the email shows its slot ("#2 · Thursday, Sep 10 at 9:00 AM") and the opening of the text. A button opens the outbox, where you can reorder, grade, pull or swap anything — or close the tab and let it run.

Without the look-ahead, the agent writes each post at its slot, from that morning's material. With it, the week is written in advance and you have seen it. Both are fully automatic; the difference is whether you get a preview.

Settings

  • On or off — per agent. The setup conversation offers it pre-ticked; from the console you can switch it any time.
  • Day and time — in your time zone (or the client's, for a client agent).
  • How far ahead — 7 days by default; 14 or 30 if you post rarely and would rather see a month at once.
  • "Send me a preview now" — runs it immediately, so you can see what the email looks like without waiting for Sunday.

Small print

  • It sends once per cycle — never twice in the same week, even if you change the time.
  • Posts it writes are ordinary queued posts: pull one and the slot is filled by the next in line, or written fresh if the line is empty.
  • If there are no slots in the window (agent paused, no schedule), no email is sent.
  • The email is sent to the agent's owner. For a client agent that is the assigned account manager, or the agency owner if none is assigned.

For agencies: the client copy

A client agent can also send the client their own copy. It is written in your agency's name — the subject is "Your posts for the week — from {Your agency}" — and says the team has prepared these in their voice. Their button opens a private page where they can thumbs-up or thumbs-down each post and pull any they would rather not run. They cannot reorder or ask for new posts; that stays with you. Turn it on with "Also email {client} a copy, with their own review link" — offered at the digest step of the setup conversation and in the console's look-ahead settings. It is an additional recipient: your copy still comes. See What your client sees.

Our recommendation: leave it on for the first month. Reading the week's posts in one sitting is the fastest way to notice a pattern worth a note — and after a month most people stop opening it, which is the point.
